about

Syndicate's 'Impact' was originally produced on 20th Jan 1996 and is from the same production sessions that took place for the 'Appetite For Destruction' (FIST06) 2xLP released in early 1996. The track was originally overlooked for the FIST06 release (due to being 'un-finessed' and arguably 'unfinished'), but was included on the FISTCD01 compilation in 1998 because fuck it, that'll do. The failure to turn off the final note in the track - which continues to loop awkwardly after the rest of the noise and racket has ceased - lends weight to the theory that track remained a work in progress and was never properly finished.
Previously unreleased on vinyl, the original MOD file has been respectfully edited for 7" brevity, and blessed by Gav, the original producer. We've run with the original unfinished vibe by cutting the looping note at the end of the track into a lock groove at the end of the 7" vinyl release, so the track never technically ends.

'Trapped' was a later period breakbeat track intended as a '93 throwback. Produced sometime during 1996, the track used some of the same elements and sample sources that later formed the basis for the track 'Badman' (FIST23). 'Trapped' was never released on any format until Warren compiled Syndicate's final CD-only release for Bloody Fist in 2003 titled 'The End' (FISTCD03), on which 'Trapped' was the final track.

Both tracks produced 1996 by Gavin Burke, and have been sourced from their original Amiga MOD files, dry captured digitally from a fully 'recapped' Amiga 1200 with absolutely no mastering, effects or EQ applied. Rough, raw and unrefined as originally intended.

With thanks to: Warren Burke (Syndicate), Saul @ Killbot for Amiga assistance, Aaron Lubinski for archive assistance, Croy Hedonist for archive assistance & design, Leon @ Music House for vinyl mastering, Simon Underground for production management.
