about

At some point in 1996, a disk error caused the original Memetic Amiga .MOD file 'All Picture System' (from FIST05) to became corrupted. The disk error had left the sequencing intact, but completely munged and glitched the samples. A kick drum was then swapped in, with the rest of the track being left untouched in its corrupted state. This resulted in a particularly noisy and accidental 'remix' which was then used in Memetic live sets.

Sometime around the year 2000, Darren from Memetic and Scott Netas swapped some Amiga .MOD files and had a go at remxing each other's work. One of the results was a highly amusing remix of one of Darren's tracks that had originally appeared on FIST11 in 1997. Darren's original was a cracking piece of unusual and off-kilter industrial hardcore, being built around a C-Tank acid sample and featuring pummelling percussion which often drifts off into unstable, unpredictable drum fills, and at one point collapses into a complete quagmire of 8-bit noise sludge. The original track is pure Memetic mayhem and a highlight of FIST11. However, once Scott got hold of it, he wasted no time stripping out most of the nuanced timing and unstable percussion fills of the original, solidly hammering everything down into place with a relentless double-channel distorted 4/4 kick drum, like some sort of impatient tradie fanging for a durry break. Both Darren's and Scott's remixes of each other's tracks were self released on the 2005 Netas CDR 'The Road To Hard Laughs'.

released May 23, 2017

Both tracks have been sourced from their original unaltered Amiga MOD files, and dry captured digitally from a fully 'recapped' Amiga 1200 with absolutely no mastering, effects or EQ applied. Rough, raw and unrefined as the gods of naivety intended.

Side A accidentally produced circa 1996 by I.Beckwith,
Side B produced circa 1997 by D.Blayden. Remixed circa 2000 by S.Young.

With thanks to: Memetic (Darren & Ian), Netas (Scott), Saul @ Killbot for Amiga assistance, Aaron Lubinski for archive assistance, Croy Hedonist for design, Leon @ Music House for vinyl mastering, Simon Underground for production management.
