about

One lost weekday afternoon at the back end of 1998, a terse telephone call took place in Newcastle, Australia between an office located on King St and an errant teenager's bedroom in the Newcastle suburb of North Lambton.
'Hi mate, it's Mark'
'Hi'
'Been listening to a cassette copy of that DAT we recorded last week...'
'Yep'
'Sounding pretty hectic! Just sent it off for mastering, and the Germans are already hassling me for label artwork..'
'Yep'
'Well um... got any suggestions?'
'Nup'
'So you're cool with the usual combination of cut and paste mess and my childlike handwriting?'
'Yep'
'Erm... ok.. what about a title?'
'Dunno..'
'You want me to name it then?'
'Yeah it's just a matter of convenience... look I gotta go'
'Righto mate well I'll talk to....'

Ryan Leeman's final solo work on Bloody Fist was contained on this 12" at the end of 1998. That same year he had been spending more time collaborating and writing material with Fritz Cardozo (Guyver) which would constitute the forthcoming Aftermath 12" releases. The pure breakbeat tracks were dispensed with for this release, which saw a return to the speedcore style of FIST04, albeit with a little more structure. The highlight of the 12" remains the track 'B Grade', which features one of the best intros in the entire BF catalogue.

For this 12", Ryan had retired his Amiga and the recordings were captured dry straight from FastTracker to portable DAT machine in his suburban Newcastle bedroom. The 12" hit the distributors in December 1998, and sold quickly through the first and only (relatively large) pressing.
